Strengthening the competitiveness of Ghana-based exporters is a project designed by the Ghanaian Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Excellence (CLSCE) together with the ACP-EU TBT Programme. HCL Consultants in consortium with Quality Africa Network are overseeing the project implementation with a team of high level experts specialised in Quality Management Systems and in Export Management.

The main objective is to improve the capacities of Ghana-based exporting companies to overcome barriers to trade in regional and international markets, especially in the non-traditional export sectors, and take maximum advantage of existing opportunities offered by regional economic cooperation (ECOWAS) and international trade agreements (in particular the EPA with the EU).

The implementation will be based on the capacity building of CLSCE and other selected service providers in the field of Export Quality Management Systems. The implementation will also focus on promoting the adoption of international standards among exporting companies in selected sectors. The project will be executed through a combination of training for trainers, coaching, mentoring and consultancy. In the first stages of the project, selected trainees will be prepared on the concepts and methods of export quality management. The same trainees will then select a list of companies that will go through a series of training and consulting. Visits will also be organised, during which the experts would check the progress, discuss problems and help companies to find their own ways. Companies will then be able to put into practice the content of the training.
